Personality:
In brief: Initially quiet, Ienzo is nonetheless friendly and warm to friends and strangers alike. He's helpful and patient, and quite eager to talk about what he's researched and discovered to someone willing to listen. Ienzo believes in forgiveness for the past and working toward a better future.
Since getting his heart back, Ienzo blames himself for his past actions as Zexion and does his best to atone by working as hard as he can to help the others like him and those trying to save the world.
He puts on a bright, friendly face - while working himself to the bone, seeking to atone. He ignores his powers, and focuses solely on his ability to be everyone's Man in the Chair, Exposition Dump, and Tutorial Guide - maybe, some day, he can make up for what he'd done to Radiant Garden, his whole part in it. (When he was ten. He blames himself for the things he did when he was ten.)
In depth: Ienzo is incredibly intelligent and talented and has been recognized from childhood as being such - and like many, as a consequence, defines himself by his abilities, his utility as a genius, and his use to others. He works as hard as he does and pours himself entirely into helping others not only because of his guilt, but because that is how he believes others see his worth.
When he was a child, he lost his parents through unnamed events. Right away he was taken in by Master Ansem and his scientists - and while in many ways they knew he was a child, they also treated him as a peer. Ienzo saw himself as having the facilities of an adult and knowing his actions had real, adult consequences before he was even a teenager. He does not view what happened during the research into Darkness as the fault of adults manipulated by Xehanort. He views himself as entirely complicit. He sees his own choices as having equal weight, no matter his age.
He grew up as Zexion. Cold, initially emotionless - doubtless in denial about his heart growing back as his feelings returned to him - he shut himself away with research, trusting no-one. He was manipulated and encouraged by Xehanort toward the ends of the Organization, and stayed out of the squabbling of people attempting to take power for themselves. At least with them, things were very clear. He was powerful because of his mind and his ability to trap others in his illusions. No-one cared about him otherwise. And no-one mourned his death.
Ienzo carries that weight now, both of what he did as Zexion and what he had done as a child. He urges his friends to forgive others for their actions as Nobodies, letting the past be the past. He's desperate to help the others who were Nobodies heal and leave their pasts behind. He will work without rest to defeat the Darkness and help the heroes protect the many, many worlds ...
He's going to deny that there's anything in his heart resembling Zexion. That can't be him, it couldn't be him. It's in the past, let it be in the past. Let him work until he's made up for everything he's done - especially as Ienzo, the child. Perhaps, some day, he'll manage to do enough good to make up for it.
And Ienzo knows - that's why they keep him around. Because he's proven that's what he's good for.
Abilities & Inventory:
WEAPONS: his Lexicon of Knowledge
INVENTORY: Lab coat, cravat, button-up shirt, sweater-vest, slacks. In his pockets: gummi phone (with his own upgrades), stylus, notepad, pens, laser pointer, assorted cables.
Ienzo is incredibly smart, one can infer genius-level. He is able to adapt to technologies and new information easily. He does not have any inventions or breakthroughs specifically to his name; but he is still instrumental in helping rebuild Roxas' heart and memories from the data in Twilight Town.
As Zexion, he had studied hundreds of Heartless, Nobodies, and Heroes alike during his research. From afar, of course, but they're all right here in his Lexicon of Knowledge. Like his Nobody, if Ienzo ever was convinced to finally use his powers again - he could draw upon his Lexicon and cast those enemies' spells.
Then again, the attacks you are using look interesting. Zexion was able to see what you were doing - and turn those attacks around, using them against you.
The last part of Zexion's abilities that Ienzo doesn't want to use are his abilities to cast illusions. He can sound like other people. Look like other people. Create scenarios people can be trapped within - attacking them or shielding himself using the illusions. People can brute-force their way through them, or overpower them mentally. Of course, given Ienzo's current personality - he doesn't want to have anything to do with these abilities in the slightest.
DREAM FORM: In some nightmares, Ienzo might find himself as Zexion instead of Ienzo. The only notable visible difference will be a full-length black hooded cloak, and the fact he'll be often visibly holding the Lexicon.
DREAMOTION: If Ienzo becomes more comfortable with his own magic again - the power of dreams will allow his illusions to be more tangible and fleshed-out. He'll be limited to things he has learned about - the more in-depth the research the better - and the tangible items he can create will be small at first. (And of course, this is a big if, since he's wary of his own abilities.)
The biggest thing to note here is that Ienzo does not want to use the magical abilities he developed as Zexion at this point, and will avoid using them unless there is significant character development and/or dream shenanigans.
Suitability & Plans:
I want to explore Ienzo as his own person, giving him a real arc and help tie up his issues, instead of him just being Hi I am the Tutorial Guy and Guy in the Chair. I want to explore the impacts growing up as Zexion had on him, explore his abilities as Zexion vs his humanity and ethics as Ienzo. How does he come to terms with all of that?
How will he fit in? He's a naturally helpful individual who wants to understand others, is hungry for knowledge, incredibly curious. He'll be driven to lend a hand and will be eager to help explain when people seem lost. He'll likely need interaction from others in order to break out of his self-imposed limitations on his own abilities, and accept his past. With castmates this job will actually be harder since he'll likely fall into old patterns - I think he needs fresh blood.
